KOA Denko Malaysia | Multi-Loop Industrial Cooling Pump Matrix & Hydro Booster Integration
Project Overview
To supply, engineering configuration, and commissioning of a comprehensive industrial utility pumping infrastructure for Polycool HTE Engineering Sdn Bhd. Deployed at the KOA Denko advanced electronics manufacturing plant in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, this complex installation integrates 15 heavy-duty Ebara centrifugal and vertical multi-stage pumps, an automated variable-speed hydro booster set, and structural Tomahawk vibration isolation arrays to manage extensive process cooling loops.
The Challenge
Electronic component fabrication plants specifically large-scale resistor manufacturing environments, they rely on ultra-precise temperature regulation to manage heavy thermodynamic loads generated during production. Any failure or pressure drop within the process cooling plant water loops risks immediate product defects and facility downtime. Furthermore, operating heavy-duty industrial pumps running up to 55kW can introduce massive kinetic and structural vibrations into the piping system. Left unmitigated, these vibrations lead to acoustic fatigue, joint stress, and structural resonance that could compromise the building integrity or disturb precision calibration instruments on the factory floor.
The Solution
To solve these mechanical and process requirements, a highly engineered, multi-tier fluid infrastructure was integrated:
- High-Volume Thermal Management Loops: Primary heat dissipation loops utilize high-capacity Ebara GSC horizontal end-suction pumps configured into specialized lines. This includes dedicated arrays for Condenser Water (CDWP), Low-Temperature Water (LTWP), and Medium-Temperature Water (MTWP) loops.
- Precision Process Cooling Arrays: Secondary clean loops are driven by highly efficient Ebara EVMS and EVMSG vertical multi-stage pumps, providing strict flow-rate and head stability to specialized production sectors.
- Dynamic Pressure & Makeup Supply: Sudden load fluctuations and utility water supply demand are automated using a variable-speed Ebara Hydro Booster set running in a 1-duty, 1-standby layout to dynamically modulate line pressure.
- Total Structural Vibration Isolation: To completely eliminate structural resonance and kinetic stress, all major horizontal pumping units were coupled with targeted Tomahawk spring isolation networks mounted on both the pump and motor bases, ensuring smooth, vibration-isolated 24/7 continuous operations.
